Man Arrested After Stealing Inside Church After Deliverance In Lagos.

A 28-year old man, Chibuike Sunday, who went to a popular church in Lagos for deliverance has proved the pastor wrong by stealing the church megaphone without being caught during the service.

The incident happened at the undisclosed church located at Cele Mile 2 area of Lagos where Mr. Sunday went for deliverance.

According to Sunday, he went to the church for prayers; the presiding pastor told him that he needed deliverance and he agreed to be delivered. He said that after the deliverance, he stole their megaphone and sold it.

Sunday made the revelation before the Isolo Magistrates court where he was arraigned for stealing foot wears from a store at Cele Bus Stop and he was caught.

He pleaded guilty and informed the court that it was not the first time he stole; he then told the court how he stole at the church.

Sunday who hails from Ebonyi State said that after he stole the foot wears, he sold them for N15,000 and sent part of the money to his family in the village.

The prosecutor, Inspector Oje Uagbale, presented the facts before the court and asked the court that from his confessional statement before the court, it was clear that Sunday was a habitual criminal that will not change. He asked the court to sentence him accordingly to serve as deterrent.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Teluwo, found him guilty as charged.
The court sentenced him to six months without an option of fine. Thus, he was taken to the prison custody where he will serve his term.

Shehu Sani confirmed as PRP senatorial candidate

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has confirmed Shehu Sani as its candidate for Kaduna Central senatorial district in the 2019 general election.

The chairman, Kaduna State chapter of the party, Tom Maiyashi, disclosed this in a chat with journalists in Kaduna yesterday.

Recall that Senator Sani recently joined PRP from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after a protracted dispute with his former party’s leadership in the state.

Maiyaishi, who revealed that Sani had already been registered as a full member of PRP after his defection to the party, said by joining the party, the outspoken senator has only returned home because his ideology matches that of PRP.

His words: “I wish to confirm that he is the candidate that will be contesting under our party for Kaduna Central Senatorial district. He has been fully registered at his ward six Tudun Wada ward in Kaduna South local government Area of the state.

‎”Senator Shehu Sani’s ideology has always been that of the PRP, so to us he has just come back home and we are happy he has returned,’” he said.

‎The party chairman also said that before Mr Sani joined the party, someone purchased the party’s nomination form for the senatorial ticket, but on his own decided to step down. The chairman thus indicated the party would write the electoral commission, INEC, to substitute the former candidate’s name with that of Mr Sani.

He, therefore, appealed to the electorate to vote for all PRP candidates across the country in the general elections.

“As a party, we are committed to providing good governance for Kaduna and other states where we are fielding candidates,” he said.

He further explained that the National Chairman of the party, Falalu Bello, will be its governorship candidate in Kaduna State.

Mr Maiyashi described Messrs Sani and Bello as people with intellectual capacity to provide good and qualitative governance for the good people of the state.

Leicester helicopter crash: How pilot Swaffer saved hundreds of lives from mishap

It has been revealed that the pilot of Leicester owner’s helicopter saved hundreds of lives by steering the stricken aircraft away from crowds of fans close to the stadium during the tragic crash.
Leicester City’s Thai owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, was killed when his £6.6million aircraft crashed seconds after taking off on Saturday night after the club’s 1-1 draw with West Ham United.

Srivaddhanaprabha was one of five persons that died in the crash.
Others were 33-year-old Nursara Suknama, who is the runner-up in Miss Thailand Universe 2005; Kaveporn Punpare, from Bangkok, another passenger and the pilot, Swaffer.

But without the actions of pilot Swaffer, the terrible scenes could have been even worse.
Witnesses told Express Sports that the pilot appeared to miss the 32,000-seater arena before the chopper crashed on a wasteland next to the car park.

More than 1,000 staff, fans at a corporate level and media were still inside the stadium when the tragedy happened.
The pilot, however, veered the almost uncontrollable helicopter towards an isolated area, saving hundreds.

One witness said, “If it had hit the stadium or even landed near the entrance, who knows what would have happened? The pilot probably saved hundreds of lives.”

Corporate guest, Shane Carmichael, 32, said, “It’s a sight that will live with me for the rest of my days. Nobody could have survived.

“It was like a film. It was like the pilot was trying to get away from the stadium.
“Then it came down behind the factory next to the car park. It was a massive explosion, the whole place lit up.”

Two police officers tried to rescue victims by using a baton and a fire extinguisher to smash the windows.
Sky Sports cameraman, Dan Cox said, “I heard it coming out of the stadium. I just looked up and it was spinning, static, just out of control, just a constant spinning. I’ve never seen anything like it.

“I don’t know how the pilot did it but he seemed to manage to slow down the spinning rotation and it drifted off into the corner part of the car park.

“It could have crashed where I was, in car park E, it could have crashed into the building. It could have crashed into the media compound where they were all packing up from doing TV.

“But he managed to crash that helicopter in a part of the ground where there wasn’t anybody.
“To my mind the pilot was heroic and the two police officers who also tried to help are heroes too.”

Wicked Woman Burns Houseboy With Hot Iron For Drinking Her Beverage

A 12-year-old houseboy identified as Friday Obi, who allegedly took his Madam's soft drink in the Bariga area of Lagos, has been severely punished after his 35-year-old trader madam placed hot pressing iron on him, cut his forehead and burnt his left shoulder, which left him with scars all over his body.

According to a report by Vanguard, Obi, a Primary 5 pupil of Pedro Primary School, was brought from Imo State to live with the trader, Sarah Eteigbe, four years ago in her one-room apartment at 17 Mutairu Street, Pedro, Bariga.

Barely had he settled than Sarah allegedly started beating him. Sarah’s landlord and teachers at Friday’s school were said to have cautioned her against inflicting injuries on the boy whenever she beats him.
The beating came to a head last Friday, after teachers noticed bloodstains on his uniform. Upon enquiry, he disclosed that his aunty burnt him with hot pressing iron.

During interrogation, Sarah claimed Obi was very playful and stubborn, saying “I have warned him several times to stay in the house and not to go out and play with other children.”

When asked why she burnt him with hot pressing iron, she simply said: “Because he drank a bottle of seven-up without my permission.”
One of Obi’s school teachers, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, admitted that Obi was playful but added that he was also intelligent.

Describing his ordeal in the hands of Sarah, whom he called aunty, Obi said: “She always beats me at the slightest opportunity. There was a time she cut me with a razor blade.

“On this day in question, I returned from school late and by the time I got home, there was no food. I had to drink the 7-Up because I was hungry. I do not know why my aunty is wicked towards me.”
When news of Sarah’s arrest filtered in, residents described it as a welcome development to checkmate her high-handedness. One of them, who simply gave her name as Bimbo, said: “We have been begging her to take the boy back to his parents.

“In her bid to disallow other children from playing with Obi, Sarah used six inches nails on her door net, leaving the sharp edges bare, so that it will pierce any child that comes close.”
Also speaking with Vanguard, Coordinator of CPN, Okanlawon, described the physical abuse on the boy as wicked.

He said: “When we got the information through the Local Government Education Authority, we swung into action by visiting the perpetrator’s house and making sure that she was arrested.

“CPN Shomolu and the Ministry of Youths and Social Development social worker, Shomolu, intervened in the matter and it was agreed that the boy should be placed in a shelter, as a result of the injury inflicted on him by his guardian.

“The Divisional Police Officer charged Sarah to court. She was granted N200,000 bail with four sureties in like sum.
“She was remanded at the Ikoyi Female Prison, pending when she would meet the bail conditions, while the case was adjourned till December 3.”

Atiku: South-west PDP makes fresh demands

The South-West Zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Abubakar, to give more key positions to the zone if he emerges as president.
The South-West Vice-Chairman of the party, Dr Eddy Olefeso, made the demand in Lagos on Friday night, at a meeting of key members across the six states in the zone.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the meeting, which lasted hours, had in attendance a former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Chief Olabode George; the current Deputy National Chairman (South),Chief Yemi Akinwonmi; and a former National Vice Chairman of the party, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo.

Also present were former Minister of State for Defence, Mrs Sola Obada; a former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Alhaja Makanjuola Badru; and a member of the National Assembly, Sen. Abiodun Olujimi.
The party’s governorship candidate in Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde; the governorship candidate in Ogun, Mr Ladi Adebutu; and a former governorship aspirant in Osun State, Chief Akin Ogunbiyi, were also at the meeting, among others.

Olafeso said though the promise of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) slot by Atiku was a good development, the zone deserved more key political and government positions.
The Vice-Chairman said that the zone had been schemed out in the power arrangement of the party for the past few years.

Olafeso said for Atiku to give the zone a sense of belonging and compensate “for the years of abandonment”, he should zone key positions of the Chief of Staff to the President and Àttorney-General of the Federation to the South-West in addition to the SGF.

He said the South-West had the second highest voting population in the country and would demand its fair share of political positions if PDP wins in 2019.

“We have been denied for too long. In 2011, the country under the control of our party zoned the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the zone and it was taken away.
“And from 2011 to 2015, we were left just like that and the reverberating effect of that abandonment is the reason why we are still having the hangover of neglect till today.

“Now we are here again, the party is working with a zone with 14million votes, the second largest in the country. We refuse and we will not accept where we finish the job in the next election and for one reason or the other, we will not be considered.

“We don’t have to wait till after the election before we say what we want. We want to let the party and our candidate know that certain positions are strategic to governance and we want them.

“Yes, the SGF is great, but there is nothing wrong with having the Chief of Staff and Attorney-General on top of it to compensate us for the denials of the past, so that all of us can work as a united front.
“We will continue to fight for it, we will speak with a loud voice. We give so much, so the zone deserves a lot,” he said.

While congratulating Abubakar on his emergence as presidential candidate, Olafeso said the zone was pleased with the choice of Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, as his running mate.
He said the country was faced with serious economic challenges, and Obi had the pedigree that could realise the party’s economic vision for Nigeria.

Evans Reveals How SARS Tortured Him And Killed Detainees In His Presence

Alleged kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike alias Evans yesterday narrated to an Ikeja high court how he was allegedly tortured by members of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Intelligence Response Team and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), The Nation reports.

Evans narrated his experience during the continuation of a trial-within-trial at an Ikeja High Court where he is facing trial on a two-count charge conspiracy and kidnapping.

He is facing trial before Justice Hakeem Oshodi alongside five other members of his gang.
Before Evans’ testimony, a five-minute-33-second video recording was played in the courtroom.
The video recording showed Inspector Idowu Haruna, a member of the IGP Intelligence Response Team, sitting beside Evans, cautioning him and taking his statement.

Evans defence counsel, Mr Olanrewaju Ajanaku, however disputed the validity of the recording by claiming it was heavily edited.

Evans, while being led in evidence by Ajanaku, described himself as a businessman dealing in haulage and ornaments and resident at No. 3, Fred Soyebode Street, Magodo Lagos.

In vivid detail, Evans described how he was tortured by police officers after his arrest.
He said: “Inspector Idowu Haruna (member of IGP Intelligence Response Team) took me to Abuja and brought me back to Lagos where I was at the Inspector General (IG) Guest House at Obalende, Lagos.
“Sunny, the 2 I/C (second in command) to Abba Kyari Mr Christian Ugu, Mr Phillip and other police officers working with them were there.

“Idowu Haruna brought about 25 sheets of paper and asked me to sign. That day, my mind told me not to sign because it might be my death warrant.

“Mr Phillip put his hand in his pocket and brought out a brown hospital card. He showed it to me and told me to sign it, saying, ‘Do you think that we are joking here?’ He said if anything happens to me here, this card covers everything.

“Mr Phillip said the police would not be held responsible. And before I knew it, Mr Christian slapped me, and that was how they started beating me,” Evans told the court.

The alleged kidnap kingpin gave more details to the court how the police officers tortured him and made him witness executions in a bid to get him to admit to his crimes.

He said: “Mr Christian Ugu was smoking. He quenched the cigarette on my hand. My Lord, look at my head where they beat me. My Lord, look at my hand.

“They took me to the backyard of the I.G’s guest house. I sustained injuries on my head and body and Mr Phillip asked the policemen to walk on me. When I started bleeding, he said, ‘You think we are joking here?’

“At the backyard, I saw some people that I was paraded with. They were wearing leg chains. Some of them had bullet wounds on their legs and Mr Phillip ordered Idowu Haruna to bring a big brown cello tape, handkerchief and polybags.

“Idowu Haruna forced a handkerchief into the mouth of one of them. He used the cello tape to tightly tape his mouth and face and put a polybag over his head and cello-taped it. He used another poly bag and cello-taped it the second time and they left the man on the ground.

“The man on the ground was shaking. He pissed (urinated) on his body. He pooed (defecated) on his body, and after a while, he went quiet.

“Idowu Haruna went to the man and stepped on his body, and he was irresponsive. Then he told me, ‘Can you see? I have travelled him.”

Evans told the court that four persons were executed in the same manner by the police officers in his presence.

“I was brought before them and I started begging, asking them what they wanted me to do, and they told me to cooperate with them. I said okay, I would do anything they wanted me to do.

“Phillip asked them to take me to the house and he asked if I knew the method of killing and I said no. They said that it is called ‘Saddam Hussein’.

“He said that there is no way an autopsy can predict the cause of death of the five people they had just killed and that those people had travelled.”

Evans said after witnessing the execution, the 25 sheets of paper were brought for him by the police to sign.

He recalled trembling with fear, saying that Mr Sunny, the second in command to Mr Abba Kyari, the Head of the IGP Intelligence Response Team, asked Inspector Haruna to offer him a can of cold Fanta.

“When the Fanta was given to me, I drank it. After a few minutes, they brought the 25 sheets of paper for me and I signed them.

“Some things were written on some of the sheets of paper while some were blank. That was how I was forced to sign the confessional statements.”

On cross-examination by Ms Titilayo Shitta-Bey, the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Evans confirmed his name and the names of his parents and denied knowing the officers before his arrest.

He said: “I am 38 years old. I was born on April 29, 1980. My mother’s name is Mrs. Chinwe Onwuamadike and my father is Mr Stephen Onwuamadike.

“I did not know Inspector Haruna, Abba Kyari before my arrest. I am the one in the video. I was cautioned in the video, but after the cautionary words, I was forced to sign.

“The story I told the court was never an afterthought. SARS killed more than 30 people in my presence. The killings took place at the IG’s Guest House in Ikoyi.

“On the day I was arrested in my house and I was taken to Ikeja SARS Station, journalists were there. They had beaten the hell out of me in my house. I was interviewed by the journalists on Sunday, a day after I was arrested.

“When I was taken to the station, there was a field. I was in a car while I was waiting for Abba Kyari to come.

“When he came, he told me to beg for forgiveness in my interview with journalists and also to inform the world I had cancer which I don’t have. The police killed one Felix Chinemeri in my presence.”
While he was being re-examined by Ajanaku, his defense counsel, Evans said that he had not spoken to journalists before he made his alleged confessional statement to the police.

Earlier during proceedings, Inspector Idowu Haruna was cross-examined by Ajanaku.
He told the court it took more than an hour to obtain Evans’ statement.
Haruna denied that Evans changed his clothes because of bloodstains from torture before the video of Evans giving his confessional statement was made.
He denied editing the five-minute-33-second video of Evans giving his statement to the police.
“I never threatened to kill the first defendant (Evans) and I never created fear in him by killing people in his presence,” Haruna said.
Evans is standing trial alongside Uche Amadi, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi, Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu and Victor Aduba.
They were arraigned on August 30, 2017 on two counts of conspiracy.
Evans and co-defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them by the state.
Justice Hakeem Oshodi adjourned the case until November 23 for continuation of defence in the trial-within-trial.

“The Security Council noted the substantial compliance with the curfew by residents and welcomed the atmosphere of calm largely prevailing in the areas under curfew as well as across the state.

“The Council commended residents for refusing to allow criminal elements to divide our communities and sow chaos.

“It urged Kaduna residents to continue to cooperate with the security agencies to ensure that those who want a peaceful, law-governed society prevail over criminals who prefer chaos and anarchy.”

Military uncovers open shallow grave of General, body still missing

An open shallow grave where the body of the missing Maj-Gen. Idris Alkali (rtd) was allegedly buried before it was exhumed and reburied in another place has been uncovered, while a specialist who facilitated the act along with others has been apprehended.

This is as a result of the military’s intensified efforts to unravel the whereabouts of the missing General whose vehicle was discovered in a mining pit in Dura –Du village in Jos South local government area of Plateau State.

Alkali, who is the immediate past Chief of Administration (Army), recently disengaged from the Nigerian Army after 35 years of meritorious service to the Nigerian Army and the country. He was travelling from Abuja to Bauchi via Jos in his black Toyota Corolla car with registration number, KWARA MUN 670 AA when some hoodlums assaulted and killed him.

Addressing journalists yesterday on the efforts to recover the body of the missing General, the General Officer Commanding 3 Armoured Division, Major General Benson Akinroluyo, said initial credible intelligence revealed that his car was stopped and he introduced himself as a general to the hoodlums who had barricaded the road that he was just passing through to Bauchi, adding that the senior officer was assaulted and killed.

“Thereafter, his belongings, such as clothing, cash, phones and laptop were shared by those who killed him. His body was dragged before being moved to somewhere else and his car was driven and pushed into the abandoned mining pit filled with water.

“The irate youths who followed his car to the abandoned mining pit filled with water on many tricycles, popularly known as “Keke NAPEP, jubilated for reasons best known to them or for mission accomplished.
“He was later buried in a shallow grave in an area popularly known as “No man’s land” within the community,” Akinroluyo explained.

The GOC narrated that when the General’s black Toyota Corolla car was recovered from the abandoned mining pit, those involved and those not involved in his killing held a meeting to relocate his body away from the community, because of the inherent danger it would attract to the community, adding that consequently, a-10-man team was constituted to relocate his body earlier buried in a shallow grave within the community to elsewhere, while a specialist in preservation of bodies was contracted and he assisted in exhuming his body from the shallow grave to somewhere else.

“Only few trusted members of the community knew where his body was relocated to. The specialist is currently in our custody.

“Again, this is an attempt to cover up the heinous crime committed by the community. There exist other evidence and indicators that pointed to the fact that those who were involved in the killing of the senior officer are being supported and backed by community leaders within the Dura-Du District.”

He further disclosed that Da Chuwang Samuel, believed to have masterminded the assaults and killing of Alkali, Nyam Samuel, Pam Gyang, Mathew Wrang, Moses Gyang, Timothy Chuang, Yakubu Rap, the district head of Dura Du village, and Chuwang Istifanus have been declared wanted by the relevant authorities based on their degree of culpability in the killing of the senior officer.

Akinroluyo further disclosed that four different sources not known to each other at various times took the military to the open shallow grave where the senior officer was earlier buried, but subsequently removed, adding: “Sniffer dogs that have been cultured with the personal effects of the senior officer led us to the same open shallow grave.

“That was the only grave we were led to by different people and sniffer dogs. We did not go to any other grave, as the operation was carried out based on credible intelligence.

“Like I always say, the cordon and search operation is intelligence-driven and that is why the operation has been conducted in line with international best practices and respect for human rights.  This further explains why the Division did not clamp down on the entire community; only the perpetrators are being targeted.”
He reiterated that all the actors involved in the dastardly act who are still at large are known to the military, while all efforts were being made to get them arrested and brought to justice, as their photographs and personal details were with the relevant security agencies.

The GOC added that the military operation has really exposed the heinous crimes being committed by the few, but fully supported and concealed by the entire community and commended members of the public for their cooperation and still solicited for anyone with credible information on where the senior officer was reburied.

Akinroluyo further pointed out that relations of those whose vehicles were discovered in the mining pit had come up to identify the vehicles with proven evidence.

Speaking with journalists, one Mohammed Sadiq Abdulahi, whose father owned the Toyota bus that was found in the mining pit, said his father was ambushed in the area in July this year and killed, while another person, Yusuf Abubakar, also identified another Range Rover belonging to his uncle, Alhaji Lawal Isa.
