Evil Man Who Killed Taxify Driver And Stole His Vehicle Arrested In Lagos

Operatives of the Federal Special Anti-robbery Squad, FSARS at Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island, Lagos have arrested a fleeing robbery suspect who allegedly connived with an accomplice now at large to rob and kill a Taxify (Bolt) driver before absconding with the victim's Toyota Camry Car.

According to PM Express, the suspect, Ikechukwu Ozorumba, 29, and a native of Obolo Uku, Delta State but resident of 16, Yaro Street, Okokomaiko, a suburb of Lagos, allegedly conspired with his friend simply called Nkelechi, aka Sunshine to rob the driver, Ebenezer Olotu, a native of Akoko in Ondo State of his Toyota Camry Car with number plate, SMK 980 FM at Okokomaiko area of Lagos and allegedly kill him and drove the car to Imo State to look for a buyer for it.

Police also arrested alongside the suspect one Chima Chukwuemeka, 38, a palm oil farmer in Oguta, Imo  State for allegedly harboring  the robbery suspect in his farm to evade Police arrest.

Nemesis caught up with the robbery suspect when the family of the late driver petitioned the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP in charge of FSARS, Lagos, Mr. Kola Kamaldeen that their breadwinner who worked as a Taxify (Bolt) driver in Lagos left home for work on 26 December, 2018 and had yet to return home since.

Following the report, Kamaldeen directed his crack team led by SP Olaniyi Festus to do everything to locate the missing driver.

A Police source alleged that after days of intelligence gathering in Lagos metropolis, the Police team following a tip off found the corpse of the late driver dumped at Jimoh Street, Okokomaiko, Ojo, Lagos.

The Police evacuated the corpse and deposited it in the mortuary.

The source further alleged that the Police team later tracked the robbery suspect through the phone number of the victim to Imo State where they arrested the oil farmer who led the Police to his farm in Oguta, where the suspect was arrested.

The suspect then led the Police to recover the stolen Car at a hideout in Imo State and they brought the two suspects and the recovered car to FSARS office in Lagos.

During investigation, the robbery suspect allegedly confessed to the crime and said he and his accomplice, Nkelechi now on the run did not intend to kill the driver, but just to rob him of his car and that the driver’s stubbornness led to his death.

In his alleged confessions to the Police, Ikechukwu allegedly stated: “On 26 December, 2018, we chartered the driver as passengers in Surulere area of Lagos and told him to take us to Okolomaiko area of Lagos.

“On our way, we ordered the driver to surrender his car keys to us, but he refused and started struggling with us. In the process, we strangled him to death and dump his body at Jimoh Street, Okokomaiko and drove the car straight to Imo State to look for a buyer.”

In his own narrations, Chukwuemeka allegedly stated that if he had known that Ikechukwu robbed a driver of his car and killed him, he would not have harbored him in his farm till the Police came from Lagos to arrest him over matter he knew nothing about.

A Police source said that the suspects would be charged to Court after completion of investigations.

End Of The Road! Man Sentenced To Death For Killing Girlfriend

It was  reported that an Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure has sentenced one Chukwudi Onweniwe to death by hanging for killing his girlfriend, Nifemi Adeyeoye.

The convict was arrested by the men of the Ondo State Police Command after killing the deceased, who was a student of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, in February 2017 at Ogbese in the Akure North Local Government Area of the state.

Before the killing, Onweniwe was said to have abducted the deceased and taken her to a farm near the community, where he raped her, after which he strangled her to death.

When the trial began in May 2017, the convict was arraigned before the court on four counts of action endangering life, kidnapping, rape and murder.

After examining all the facts of the case, the court held that on three of the counts, the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt except for the third count of rape, which the prosecution did not provide the evidence against the convict

While delivering his judgement, the trial judge, Justice Samuel Bola, said the autopsy that was conducted on the deceased showed the abnormal state of her neck and the fracture of her skull.

He added that the autopsy also indicated that the deceased had been attacked with an object with a blunt edge, which led to her death.

The judge found Onweniwe guilty as charged on three counts and sentenced him appropriately.

On the count of kidnapping, the court sentenced Onweniwe to life imprisonment, while on the count of strangulating to death, the convict was sentenced to death by hanging; and on murder, he was also sentenced to death by hanging.

Suspected Ritualist Burnt To Death After Killing Teenage Girl In Bayelsa

A suspected ritualist was subjected to jungle justice earlier today after allegedly killing a young girl in Akenfa, Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.

It was gathered that the alleged ritualist pretended to a homeless man loitering around the area before he allegedly slaughtered a teenage girl and was nabbed in the process. 

The angry mob immediately descended on him and lynched him to serve as punishment and also a deterrent to others due to the increasing rate of ritual killings in the region.

The latest victim will make it three ladies who have been gruesomely killed in Akenfa community in less than two months.

It was earlier reported that two women were killed by unidentified ritualists in Akenfa I in January 2019.

Police arrest Oyo APC lawmaker over Rep member's death

Oyo State Police Command has arrested the chief whip of Oyo State House of Assembly Wasiu Akinmoyede over the death of House of Representatives member Temitope Olatoye, known as ‘Sugar’ during Saturday, March 23 governorship election in the state.

Akinmoyede, who represents Lagelu constituency in the assembly, was alleged to have had a hand in the murder of Olatoye, who was the senatorial candidate of Action Democratic Party (ADP).

State Police Command sent a notice of Akinmoyede’s arrest to the State Assembly that it has arrested Akinmoyede in connection with the killing of Olatoye.

His arrest has brought the number of those arrested in connection with the killing to two.

Speaker of the House of Assembly, Olagunju Ojo, in an interview with journalists confirmed that the House was notified through a letter that Akinmoyede is under investigation.

“Yes, we received a letter that he is under investigation, I am not aware that he is been taken to Abuja or not,” Ojo said.

Ojo said, “I am not aware that he has been taken to Abuja. I am only aware that he is under investigations but I am not sure if he is in Abuja or not.”

The Oyo State lawmaker and Olatoye have been political rivals in Lagelu local government area of the state over the years.

Olatoye represented the Lagelu constituency in the House of Assembly from 2011-2015 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was elected House of Representatives member for Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency in 2015.

He contested the party’s senatorial ticket but lost to the former Senate leader, Teslim Folarin and thereafter defected to ADP to achieve his senatorial ambition.

Man arrested for impregnating 14 year old girl in Warri

A tricycle rider in Warri simply identified as Samuel, has been arrested for putting a 14 year girl in the family way.

Activist, Gwamnishu Emefiena Harrison, who shared the story online, said the tricyclist had taken the girl to a private hospital for an abortion when he was alerted. Harrison stated that he rushed to the hospital and rescued the girl. Read his post on Facebook below

Man Shot Dead At Collation Center In Rivers

Residents of Oyigbo area of Rivers state have protested the death of a young graduate identified as Chijioke, a son of the soil, reportedly killed by men in police uniforms.

It was gathered that the men in police uniforms killed the victim during collation of the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections.

The incident happened at the St Paul’s Catholic Church close to Oyigbo market.

According to an eyewitness account, four men in police uniforms invaded the collation centre to snatch ballot boxes but when challenged, shot sporadically killing the handsome man on the spot.

They afterwards fled the scene of the murder in a white unmarked Toyota Hilux van.

On this note, the First Lady of Oyigbo LGA, Mrs. Chinwe Oforji in line with the LGA Vice Chairperson, Hon. Mrs. Charity Ekeke, took to the streets of Oyigbo with the entire women of Oyigbo to demand justice for the death of their son Chijioke.

Expensive Cars Recovered From 10 Yahoo Boys & Girls In Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abuja zonal office has arrested 10 suspected internet fraudsters, following intelligence report of their suspicious activities.

The suspects are, Triumph Chikwendu Madumere, Success Chukwumazu Obasi, Jamila Shuaibu, Bright Idumwonyi Osaigboko and Obasi Wisdom.

Others are Idemudia Emmanuel, Sandra Alang, Stanley Ohiaeri, Samuel Tochukwu and Ikechukwu David Ohiaeri.

They were arrested at Karu and Mpape settlements of Abuja, on February 7, 2019.

Items recovered from them include, three Mercedes Benz cars, five laptop computers, 10 handsets, ATM cards and other incriminating documents.

They will soon be charged to court.

Billionaire kidnapper: Evans loses in court

An Ikeja High Court has told alleged kidnap kingpin Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike a.k.a. Evans that there was no proof that he was tortured by the police.

Giving a ruling admitting Evans’ June 11, 2017 confessional statement into evidence, Justice Hakeem Oshodi, noted that the 1999 Constitution did not require that statements to the police must be in a specific form.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the judge also said that based on Evans’ evidence videotaped confession played in court on Oct. 26, 2018, there was no proof that Evans was tortured to provide details of his alleged misdeeds as he claimed.

DAILY POST earlier reported that the alleged kidnap kingpin claimed that he was tortured and forced to make all the confessions he earlier made to the police when he was arrested.

The Judge said, “In the video that was played in open court, the first defendant was cautioned and he signed a word of caution, when he was asked his profession he said he was a businessman, he said so with a smile.

“In the video the first defendant asked the investigating police officer to write his statement on his behalf, the first defendant sat on a sofa and after the recording of the statement, the first defendant signed.

“In the video, the court cannot see any coercion directed at the first defendant.

“When the witness for the prosecution was cross-examined, he categorically stated that the first defendant was not tortured when his statement was taken.”

Justice Oshodi said the alleged kidnap kingpin did not provide any evidence to court to back the allegations of extra- judicial killings he made against the police.

“The first defendant has not provided evidence of any inducement, threat or promise in the trial-within-trial.

“The court is not unmindful that the first defendant said he was slapped; cigarettes extinguished on his hands and saw people being murdered by the police.

“The allegation that the police murdered some people is a criminal allegation that he did not prove and there is no blood seen in the video.

“The first defendant did not give any evidence as to the treatment of the injuries he sustained.

“The first defendant did not contradict any part of the video played. There is no proof that the statement was made involuntarily, the statement is admitted and marked Exhibit B,” he said.

Following the ruling, Ms Titilayo Shitta-Bey, Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), requested for an adjournment due to the absence of the fourth prosecution witness, Insp. Idowu Haruna.

“My Lord, unfortunately the prosecution witness is not in court and we will have to ask for an adjournment.

“The witness sustained injury in an accident and he is still recovering from the injury,” she said.

Mr Olanrewaju Ajanaku, Evans’ defence counsel, had no objection to the request for an adjournment.

Justice Oshodi adjourned the case until Feb. 22 for continuation of the evidence of Haruna and trial.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that during the trial-within-trial held on Oct. 26, 2018, Evans claimed that his alleged confessional statement to the police was not obtained voluntarily.

The alleged kidnap kingpin alleged that police officers tortured him and made him witness executions in a bid to get him to admit to his crimes.

Evans is standing trial alongside Uche Amadi, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi, Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu and Victor Aduba.

The six were arraigned on Aug. 30, 2017 on two counts of conspiracy and kidnap of the Chief Executive Officer of Maydon Pharmaceutical Ltd., Donatus Dunu, from whose family they allegedly collected 223,000 Euro (N100m) as ransom.

Evans and his co-defendants have pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

EFCC arrest 19 “Yahoo boys” in Ibadan, recovers female underwear, cars

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday morning nabbed 19 suspected internet fraudsters in Ologuneru and Akobo areas of Ibadan, Oyo State.

Tony Orilade, the commission’s acting Head, Media and Publicity made this known in Ibadan, NAN reports.

According to him, 15 of the suspects were arrested at Ologuneru area while the remaining four were nabbed at Akobo area.

”All the suspects who are between the ages of 21 and 35 were arrested at their hideout in the early hours of Friday.

”The commission got wind of their activities following series of intelligence report.

“Which alleged that they engage in various fraudulent activities ranging from obtaining money by false pretences through sending of scam emails to unsuspecting victims.

”Some are engaged in romance scam on several dating sites.

”Among the things recovered from the suspects included four exotic cars, five laptops, 20 telephones, including 10 iPhones and one small bag containing items suspected to be fetish objects.

”Others are several documents, including international passports and ATM cards.

”SIM cards, one exotic car, laptops, telephones, female under-wears and four bags of fetish objects were recovered from four of the suspects arrested for cyber crimes at Akobo area.

”The suspects are: Babatunde Afeez, Akorede Olalekan, Adeleye Damilola and Moshod Richard.

“Others are Bamidele Samson, Bamidele Philip, Tunji Sowale, Bololaji Olalekan and Abdulrauf Abiodun, Olaleye Pelumi and Anuoluwapo Olanrewaju.

”The remaining ones are: Paul Damilola, Olateye Tobi, Arewa Ibrahim, Oyesanmi Oluwaseun, Olaleye Israel, Adediran Kemisola, Omobolade Alarape and Olowolusi Oluwatomisin,” he said

He said that all the suspects would soon be arraigned in court soon.

Court remands 23-year-old-man for stealing woman’s pants

Dutse Magistrate court has remanded a 23-year-old man, Yabo Ibrahim for allegedly stealing a woman’s underwear at Yalwawa quarters in Dutse Local Government.

The accused person was arrested on a two-count charge of unlawful entry into a house and stealing.

The Prosecutor told the court that one woman at Yalwawa quarters lodged her complaint that thieves were getting access to her house whenever she is out for work.

He explained that on receiving the complaint, police and people of the area swung into action and succeeded in arresting the suspect.

Some of the items he stole include seven pants, four braziers, two shorts among others valued at N7000.

The accused person also admitted committing the offense before the magistrate but begged for mercy, saying that he stole the items due to hunger in order to feed himself.

The Magistrate, Muhammad Lamin Usman ordered the accused person to be remanded in prison custody for two weeks.

He said the alleged offence contravened sections 346 and 286 of penal court.

The case was adjourned to February 12, for mention.

Private school bus driver rapes four-year-old girl after school hours in Osun

A driver with an unnamed private school in Osogbo, Osun State, Oluwatomisin Oyelakin, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates Court for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor after school hours on January 15th 2019.

While being arraigned in court yesterday, the police prosecutor, Sergeant Temitope Fatoba, the accused was a driver in the school the four-year-old victim attended and allegedly committed the act after school hours. Sergeant Fatoba said on the day the incident happened, Oyelakin dropped off the other pupils in his vehicle at their various homes and he was left with the victim. He then poceeded to have canal knowledge of his victim in a secluded place.

The prosecutor said the offence contravenes sections 360 and 218 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11, Laws of Osun State, 2003.

The mother of the victim, simply identified as Mrs Gbadamosi, explained amidst sobs that after the incident, her child was taken to the hospital where she was subjected to X-ray and scan.

One person injured as PRP, APC supporters clash in Bauchi

Some supporters of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state clashed on Saturday, leaving one person seriously wounded and a car destroyed.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Correspondent who witnessed the incident reports that the fight occurred at Bauchi Club roundabout along Ahmadu Bello when the PRP was preparing to flag-off it’s gubernatorial campaign in the state.

An eyewitness, Mr Yusuf Yaro, told NAN that trouble started when one of the vehicles of a PRP supporter broke down in front of APC supporters office at the popular roundabout, due to mechanical problem.

“Today is the flagging off of PRP campaign exercise. The PRP supporters were conducting their rally and moving from Zaranda Hotel to Kobi street and to other selected areas chosen for the occasion.

“Unfortunately, a vehicle belonging to a PRP supporter broke down in front of an APC campaign office at the Bauchi Club roundabout, thus resulting in the clash,” Yaro said.

Another eyewitness who identified himself as Ibrahim Sani, said the faulty car was parked in front of the APC supporters office, with loud campaign music coming out from it.

“Honestly, I don’t know whether the vehicle was faulty, but it was parked in front of this APC supporters office.

“There was loud music coming out of it and from other PRP supporters conducting their rally.

“Maybe the APC supporters believed the action was deliberate and aimed at to mocking them, hence the clash that occurred,” he explained

The vehicle destroyed was Honda Accord with registration number DR-892-ABJ and the person injured, a PRP supporter, was simply identified as Abdullahi, who was taken to the hospital for treatment.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kamal Abubakar , told NAN that the command was yet to receive formal report on the incident.

As count-down to the Election Day commences, clashes among party supporters in the state, mostly youth, have become frequent.

Most of the clashes were over the positioning of campaign posters and billboards within the metropolis. (NAN)

Gov. Dankwambo under probe over death of personal cook

The Presidential Investigation Panel on the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has resolved to summon Gov. Ibrahim Dankwanbo of Gombe over the death of one of his personal aides.

Mr Tony Ojukwu, chairman of the panel disclosed this at its resume sitting on Wednesday in Maitama, Abuja.

This was in relation to a petition written by Law Chambers of Mr Sunny Olorunmola on behalf of one Mrs Okon, over the death of her husband Mr John Okon who was a personal cook to Dankwanbo.

Mrs Okon alleged that her husband died as a result of injuries sustained due to beatings and torture by men of SARS.

She further stated that he was in custody of the men of SARS headed by one SP Jummai of the anti crime department, Kaduna.

Okon said the problem started after a burglary at the Kaduna residence of Damkwanbo where the deceased was living with his family.

“The deceased who lived in the boys quarters of the governor’s private residence in Kaduna woke up on Nov. 8, 2018 to discover that the house had been burgled and four theatre TV cinema sets carted away by unknown persons.

“The deceased, his wife and other domestic staff reported the case at the Kabala Costain Police Station, where they were all arrested.

“They were subsequently transferred to the state Police Headquartres on Friday Nov. 9, 2018 for further investigation.

“My husband fell sick and died on Nov. 13 as he was being rushed to Barau Diko General Hospital, Kaduna for medical attention,” she said.

Counsel to the petitioner, Ms Gloria Balkson, brought a pathologist, Dr Godwin Ayuba who performed autopsy on the deceased. Ayuba led by Balkson narrated their finding to the panel.

“He died as a result of multiple traumas; break down of blood due to infection or drug and so much bile stain, signifying leakages in the gall bladder.

“His stomach had undigested peppery liquid food and the small intestine was ballooned at intervals,” he said.

When cross examined by counsel to the police, Mr Taiwo Malik, the pathologist said the coroner from the police paid for the autopsy and was the one who asked for the autopsy.

He said further that he doesn’t know why the police pathologist was not invited to the sitting.

Dr Iheanyichukwu Ogbonna, obstetrician and gynecologist who served as an observer to the autopsy told the panel that the gall bladder was ruptured, obviously traumatised.

He stated further that the bile stained the entire intestine green, showing that no enough food was in the stomach.

When the wife of the deceased was led in evidence by her counsel, she said that she identified one Insp. Baba Yakubu as the police officer who dragged her late husband and tortured him.

“They did not allow him to drink water or eat food,” she said.

The panel led by Mr Tony Ojukwu asked Yakubu to respond to the allegation but he denied dragging the deceased.

“I am not working at the counter, my office is upstairs and the ones responsible for feeding suspects are those working at the counter,’’ he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the panel was set up by the Federal Government to investigate the allegations of human rights abuses by the men of Special Anti-Robbery Squad. The panel is to make useful recommendations to government on the way forward.

Suspected smugglers kill Custom Assistant, injure other in Ogun State

A group of smugglers on Sunday reportedly killed a Customs Assistant, Hamisu Sani and injured an Inspector identified as Tijani Michael during an ambush at Asero community in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The Spokesperson of the Command, Abdullahi Maiwada, in a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta on Monday, said that some operatives attached to the Nigerian Customs Service, Ogun Area Command were on a routine anti-smuggling patrol in the community when the incident occured.

Maiwada said the victim had been buried in line with Islamic rites, adding that two suspects have already been arrested by the Police, while the eight vehicles loaded with smuggled rice have been confiscated in connection with the incident.

He said an Inspector of Customs, who equally sustained injuries from machete cut, is responding to treatments at the hospital.

The statement reads, “Unfortunately, during the encounter, one of the Officers; a Customs Assistant I Hamisu Sani, sustained grievous injuries and paid the supreme price (died) in active Service. He has since been buried according Islamic rites.

“Also, an Inspector of Customs Tijani John Michel sustained serious machete cut but is responding to treatment in the hospital.

“Meanwhile, two suspects have been arrested by police and eight vehicles fully loaded with smuggled rice have been secured in connection with the incident at Customs House Abeokuta for further investigation.

“While we commend the patriotic role of our sister Agencies and law-abiding citizens, we wish to categorically state that we will deploy all necessary apparatus to ensure that the perpetrators of this devilish act are brought to book to face the full wrath of the law.

“Finally, the reoccurrence of such form of hostilities and intimidation by smugglers and their accomplice on our Officers and Men will never distract us from vigorously discharging our statutory functions,” he said.

Man murdered His Mother after an argument In Enugu

A 73-year-old woman, Mrs Cecilia Attah, has been reportedly killed by her son at Nru, in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Mrs Attah was killed on Wednesday by her son who used a plank to hit her on the head, following a minor argument.

It was gathered that shortly after killing his mother, the suspect ran to the nearby Nsukka Police Station to report that his brother wanted to kill him.

Apart from the suspect, the deceased is said to be the mother of a priest, Rev Fr. Nobert, who is now on sabbatical at the United States of America, USA, with Athanasius Igwenagum Attah, 54, as the eldest.

Athanasius, a panel beater at the Mechanic Village, Nsukka, was seen at Nsukka Police Station, yesterday, making a statement over the issue. 

A senior police officer, who confirmed the death of Madam Cecilia Attah, said that her death was accidental.

The police said that late Mrs Attah was trying to separate two of her sons, who were quarrelling, when one of them killed her.

Suspected Ritual Killers And Fraudsters Paraded By Police In Ogun

Punch Metro reports that the Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police Force has paraded four suspected ritualists and four fraudsters, who allegedly pretended to be herbalists in Ogun state.

The suspected ritualists and dealers in human parts are, Ajibola Mustapha, 30; Waheed Oyerinde, 32; Saheed Ashiru, 28; and Lateef Taoheed.

The police said they were arrested on December 10 around 9.45pm.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, Lawal Shehu, said the operatives first arrested Mustapha and his accomplices, who were said to specialise in exhuming corpses and removing their body parts around the Isabo area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.

He added that detectives from the Zonal Intervention Squad were asked to investigate the happenings around the area.

The AIG added that four suspected fraudsters, who posed as herbalists, also duped a housewife of N1.5m.

He added that those arrested in connection with the fraud were Babatunde Adeyemi, 26; Lawal Smoke, 40; Oluwabunmi Okeomo, 45; and Ogaode Monday, 25.

According to him, all the suspects have confessed to obtaining the sum of N1.5m from the victim under false pretences.

Shehu stated, “On December 10  around 9.45pm, the command received information that one Alfa Ajibola Mustapha and his accomplices, who specialise in exhuming dead bodies and removing their body parts, were noticed around the Isabo area of Abeokuta, Ogun State. Detectives from the ZIS were detailed to investigate it. Four suspects were arrested, while exhibits were also recovered from them.

“On November 27, operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau of the command received information that some of ‘one-chance’ operators, who specialise in luring victims, mostly women, to their hideouts under the pretence of facilitating business, had lured one Mrs Onyekwere to their hideout in the Ifo area of Ogun State.

“Upon a tip-off, all the suspects were arrested. The suspects confessed to have obtained the sum of N1.5m from the victim.”

The husband of the victim, Mr Iroha Onyekwere, 37, said he noticed that his wife’s behaviour had not been stable for about two months.

He explained that when he checked his briefcase, he discovered that $1,500 had gone missing, adding that he later discovered another $2,000 to be missing, noting that the discovery made him to ask his wife what had happened.

Iroha explained, “It was then she told me that some people introduced her to  a phone and accessories’ business.

“When they brought her into the office in Abule Egba, they then changed the topic from the phone business to prayers or something like that. That was how everything started. I later realised that she had taken all the money I gave her for thrift contribution to them.”

His wife said the fraudsters asked her not to disclose the deal to anybody if she did not want her children and husband to die, adding that she was scared and so had to play along with them.

The police also arrested eight suspected land grabbers with one locally-made gun, one live cartridge, two nail sticks, cutlasses and sword recovered from them.

Three armed robbery suspects, who were said to specialise in removing cars from parks, were also arrested. One Toyota Corolla saloon car, a master key and one cutlass were recovered from the suspects.

The AIG stated that all the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were completed

Nigerian Man Kills Defenseless Man After Night Of Clubbing In UK

Two men including a Nigerian who killed a defenceless man in a Greenwich street, London have been jailed at the Old Bailey today.

Ibrahim James, of Woolwich was jailed for 22 years and Andrew Adekoya, 22 of Greenwich was jailed for 16 years. Both were found guilty of the manslaughter of Jozef Boci at the same court on 18 October.

The court heard how 30-year-old Jozef was targeted by a group of men following an incident at the South Pole nightclub in Greenwich in the early hours of Saturday, 17 February.

Jozef was part of a group that had become involved in a minor dispute inside the nightclub at around 01:00hrs that morning with another group including James and Adekoya.

Security staff at the club intervened. Jozef’s group were allowed to remain in the club while the other group were ejected.

After remonstrating with security staff, the group got into two cars and drove away, returning to nearby Norman Road around five minutes later.

CCTV footage captured members of the group getting out of the cars. Adekoya had a metal object, perhaps a wrench, while James appeared to have a weapon concealed down his trouser leg.

The group approached the front of the club but were ushered away by door staff; however they continued to hang around in the vicinity of the club for the next hour or so, obviously waiting for someone to come out.

At around 02:10hrs, Jozef left the South Pole club and as soon as he stepped outside he was chased by the group, including James and Adekoya.

Jozef fled down Greenwich High Road but tripped over and was immediately set upon by his pursuers. Witnesses described how Jozef was attacked, including being struck with a baseball bat, as he lay prone and defenceless on the pavement.

Jozef was taken to hospital but never regained consciousness – he died six days after the attack on 23 February.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command launched an investigation and quickly identified the suspects from CCTV and forensic analysis.

James was arrested on 23 February and following a search of his address, a baseball bat was found hidden in his garden. Although no forensic link could be made to the bat used in the attack on Jozef, it was similar to remnants found at the scene of the attack.

On 25 February, Adekoya was arrested. He admitted being at the scene and in possession of a wrench but claimed he was trying to calm the situation.

Five men were subsequently charged for their involvement in Jozef’s killing, two of whom were convicted as above.

EFCC Arraigns 24 Suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’ In Ibadan

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Office has arraigned twenty four students of Olabisi Onabanjo University and the National Open University of Nigeria who were arrested for alleged involvement in various cyber crimes.

Ten of the defendants which include: Agboola Taiwo, Adetayo Tade Ademiluyi, Rabiu Daniel, Sokoya Oluwaseyi, Fredrick Shaibu, Oshikoya Gbolahan, Adegbola Kazeem Aina, Ademosun Opeyemi, Tosin Awobona and Babarinde Jacob were arraigned Monday, 10th December, 2018 before Hon. Justice Ibrahim Watilat of the Federal High Court 2 sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Fourteen others, comprising of Adeleke Oluwamayowa, Banjo Femi, Towolawi Olanrewaju, Tijani Babatunde, Sarafadeen Abibullahi, Adebowale Abimbola, Osunkoya Korede, Mufutau Yusuf Akorede, Salisu Ajibola, Olamikan Oluwasiji, Oduwole Gbenga, Damilare Adelaja, Bakare Azeez Adebola and Edward Ayodeji were arraigned on Tuesday 11th December, 2018 before Hon. Justice M. S. Abubakar of the Federal High Court 1 sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The defendants were all arraigned on separate charges bordering on obtaining money by false pretences, impersonation and possession of fraudulent documents.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.

One of the charges against one of the accused persons reads: “That you, Rabiu Daniel (a.K.a. Agent Howard Hall) on 23rd June, 2018 at Abeokuta within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court with intent to defraud, knowingly had in your possession documents containing false pretences to wit: an e-mail address, howardhall900@gmail.com wherein you represented yourself as; Agent Howard Hall, working for the Government/Facebook Compensation Bonus and Poverty Eradication, and other false pretences, thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 6, and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act 2006”.

Another charge reads: “That you Adegbola Kazeem Aina (a.K.a. Marry Linson) sometimes in 2018, at Abeokuta within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of $350 (Three Hundred and Fifty United State of American Dollars) from David Davis, a United State of American Citizen when you falsely represented that you are a woman (Marry Linson), which money you use to collect through Itunes Gift Card and sell them in Naira through AFRBTC.Com, which representation you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1 (1)(a) and punishable under Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act 2006”.

While Six out of the first ten defendants earlier arraigned were granted bail immediately on varying conditions, four of them were denied bail. However, the other fourteen defendants were all granted bail also on varying conditions.

All the defendants were remanded in prison custody at Abeokuta pending the perfection of their bail conditions. While the cases of the first ten (10) were adjourned to the 28th of January, 2019 for trial, the cases of the fourteen (14) were adjourned till 5th, 6th, 7th and 12th of February, 2019 for trial.

The journey to the dock for the suspect began when the EFCC got wind of their activities through series of intelligence alleging that the suspected fraudsters engaged in fraudulent activities of obtaining money by false pretences through sending emails to unsuspecting victims mostly in the United States of America while others were engaged in romance scam on several dating sites.

64-Year-Old Carpenter Arrested For Defiling A 6-Year-Old Girl In Ikorodu

A carpenter, Habib Abdullahi, 64, has also been arrested for defiling a six-year-old girl in Ikorodu, Lagos.

The CP, who paraded the suspect, said the mother of the victim informed the command of the incident, adding that the outcome of the investigation conducted revealed that the suspect took the victim into his room and sexually abused her.

He added that the victim, who was irritated by the suspect’s action, upon interrogation by her mother, identified Abdullahi as the rapist.

Imohimi said, “The Gender Unit is also investigating another case of defilement that occurred in the Ikorodu area of the state and reported by one Mrs Obinna, 37, of Selewu, Ikorodu on behalf of her six-year-old daughter against one Habib Abdullahi, 64, a carpenter of the same address as the complainant.

“During interrogation, it was revealed that onMonday, December 3, 2018, around 10am, the suspect took the victim into his room and inserted his fingers in her private parts.

“However, her mother noticed that her daughter was unnecessarily irritated and withdrawn; so, she began to ask her questions and she revealed to the mother what Abdullahi had done to her. Investigation is ongoing into the two cases of defilement; the suspects will be charged to court soon.”

Customs men shoot man to death while chasing smugglers in Ogun

Pandemonium broke out yesterday when stray bullet allegedly fired by men  of  Ogun State Command of Nigeria Customs  Services  reportedly  killed a  35-year-old man, Samson Olabisi.

The incident happened  at Ipokia round-about, Ipokia local government area of Ogun State .

Saturday Vanguard gathered that the deceased, father of five ,was reported to be on a motorcycle , heading towards Tube in Ipokia local governemnt when he was hit by the stray bullet fired  by men of NCS who were reportedly chasing  smugglers in the area.

An eye witness said Olabisi was shot  when the customs operatives invaded  the area searching for rice smugglers and started shooting indiscriminately.

It was gathered that Olabisi  was quickly  rushed to the General Hospital in Idi-Iroko by the operatives  where he was pronounced dead.

The source said the  customs operatives  were in mufti  and operated  in a private car that had no registration number

The deceased, according to the findings have five children who were said to be in primary school.

The Public Relations Officer of the State command of NCS, Abdullah Maiwada confirmed the incident.

Maiwada said “Yes, an incident occurred this morning in Ikpokia. Investigation is ongoing to gather facts on what actually transpired. I will brief you as soon as the information becomes available to me”.
